E-Certified

E-certified, are we talking about electronic return receipt instead of certified mail with return receipt.  If so, how do

I get setup with the option on my mail machine which is the DM500 series.

Re: E-Certified

Hi JDunn,

Nice to meet you here!

Just to clarify, I understand that you want to process mail pieces electronically by using E-Certified and E-Return Receipt instead of non-electronically, Certified and Return Receipt.  The electronic ("E") options allow you to view the delivery status and signatures online at www.pb.com.

If your meter does not have the option for E-Certified and/or E-Return Receipt, this means these options were not purchased when the order was placed for the meter.  To add these options to your meter, you can contact your sales representative.  If you are unsure of who your sales representative is, you can call 1-800-322-8000.

If you are using a DM500 - DM1100 mail machine, you can select the special services by pressing the class key, selecting 1st Class, selecting Letter, and you will see the options you have on your meter.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Re: E-Certified

I read this and wondered about my machine.  I use a DM400c.  Are you saying that the E-Certified is an option we chose when ordering the mahine when it shows up on the screen?  It shows up on my machine and I wanted to try it out, but I get a message saying the service is not active.  Does this mean all I have to do is call and activate it?  Is there a fee, besides the postage fee?

Re: E-Certified

DJZ123,

With the DM400C, when you order the machine, you would also be ordering which special services you will be using.  Because you are receiving the message "Service is Not Active" when selecting E-Certified, that means this option was not purchased when the machine was ordered.  There is a fee to activate this option.  To activate this option, you would want to speak to your sales representative.  If you are unsure of who your sales representative is, please click on my screen name, PB-Jeremy, and then click on Send this User a Message.

Thank you,

Jeremy

Re: E-Certified

We have recently started using e-certified with our DM1000 meter machine.  Once a week we will receive an item back for addition postage required.  It looks as if the item was not qualified as an e-certified item.  Why would this occur?

Re: E-Certified

I have not read all the items about e-certified, but is e-certified and e-return receipt both different?

Also, is E-certified and/or e-return receipt both accepted in a court of law? I was told a few years ago they were not.
