We are having problems with our DM 1000 machine.  When we use the attached scale to weigh our flats, after you lift the mail piece it used to reset to the zip code screen so that you could enter a new zip code for the next mail piece on the scale.  This would allow us to put accurate postage on the envelope.  Currently our machine is not defaulting back to the zip code screen which is causing incorrect postage to be put on the envelope.  These are priority mail pieces so they have to have a destination zip.  Any idea on how get this resolved?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the problem.  We also use the DM1000 where I work, and when we weigh a flat on the scale, it never asks for the zip unless the flat weighs enough that it needs to go priority mail.

These are priority mail pieces so they have to have a destination zip.

You are correct, it would only ask for a zip if they are via Priority Mail.

The main reason a DM500 - DM1000 would not prompt you for a zip code for Priority mail would have to do with the scale menu in the meter.  Can you please follow these instructions to set your mail machine to prompts for a zip code for your Priority mail.

• Press the menu button
• Choose setup
• Press the down arrow key once
• Choose scale/rates
• Press the down arrow key once
• Set Dest. if New Piece to prompt
• Set Dest. if New Class to prompt
• Set Autoclear Dest. Value to yes

The mail machine will not require a zip code for mail pieces under 1 lb., including Priority mail.
