Multiple Meter Tapes

1st post-new here....

We have 3 DM800 and 1 DM1000 that are all connected to Business Manager.  The system is only 4 months old and we are still working out all of the options.

Our latest "dilemma" is that we attempted to ship a parcel to Hong Kong via Int'l Priority and we were forced to manually make 3 meter tapes to total the amount of postage.  The DM800 would not allow a meter tape to print higher than $99.99.

Is there a way to set a higher postage limit to print by default?

Re: Multiple Meter Tapes

Thats pretty weird. I have a DM1000 and 900 and have never had a problem like that. I'm interested to see an answer to this.

BTW, do you really want to send something to Hong Kong via USPS???

Re: Multiple Meter Tapes

Here at the university, this particular student requested his belongings to be sent home via USPS.

It has to be a setting on the system or the meter not to allow a postage tape to go over $99.99. Our old Hasler meters did the same thing until we changed the setting.

I just dunno where to go to change this setting on the PB system. Manuals don't explain this feature....

Anyone else run into this, yet?

Re: Multiple Meter Tapes

Hey I was just messing around with my 1000 and I found that you can enter amounts over $99.99 when doing a manual transaction, but a tape did not print when I hit enter. I never do manual transactions, so I can't help you there, but I can tell you that in a manual transaction you can put up to $99,999,999.99 on one transaction. :smileysurprised:

Maybe someone with more manual transaction experience can fill in the gap for me.

Re: Multiple Meter Tapes

I am under the expression (from the documentation) that you can go as high as $99.99 at one transaction with the machine. It has something to do with how meters are authorized or something. Maybe a mod can weigh in on this. I know for my mailStation 2 that is a hard limit, maybe the DMs are different.

Re: Multiple Meter Tapes

I would be curious as well if there was a way to change the limit. We do a lot of International Priority mail and have been know to make 2 or 3 tapes for one box. It's the same with my DM-1000's and my old Hasler Power Post.

The upside though; I don't have to worry about one of my staff putting $230.00 on a tray of letters. They do silly stuff like that sometimes after forgetting to make sure the WOW is on.

Didn't they really hurt us with foreign mail on the last rate change? Sure, surface mail sucked and half the time it got lost but at least it was cheap.

Re: Multiple Meter Tapes

It is the case that our mail machines can only print a stamp with the maximum postage of $99.99.  Unfortunately, it is not possible to override that and print a stamp larger than $99.99.  The USPS has made a regulation that we are not allowed to print a single stamp over that amount.

Re: Multiple Meter Tapes

Sorry, had a feeling that regulation was across the board but was hoping for the best for you.
