DM500 - Will not seal an envelope with a 2.25" flap?

It attempts to seal but at the 0.5" to 1" area of the flap from the crease on the envelope the glue is at 2" to 2.5" area.

According to the book this falls within the acceptable range for the flap size (under 3").

Is there an adjustment that can be made to the sealer????

We have no desire to lick 950 Christmas aka Holiday Cards.

Please help!!

Re: DM500 - Will not seal an envelope with a 2.25" flap?

Poor or No Seal

DM500 and DM550 only

If an area of your envelope flap is not being moistened, this means the sealer brush is not applying moisture to the envelope flap.  There are a few possible causes to this.  You can first try the tips below.

Turn the Sealer On

Press the Seal Key

Select Sealer On

Add EZ Seal

Remove the cap from the fluid bottle

Add EZ Seal until the bottle is 3/4 full

Replace the cap until it is only finger tight

Move the Float

The fluid bottle sits in a tank.  When standing in front of the machine, there is a white, styrofoam float in the left wall of this tank.  Lift this float to its highest position and release.  Repeat this 3 times.

Check the Brush

There is a blue, oval release button in the middle of the machine.  Press and hold this release button down and simultaneously pull towards yourself.  This will release the brush assembly plate.  Run the brush under extremely hot water for 2 minutes.

Under the brush assembly plate is a moistener tank.  Pull this tank towards you until you feel resistance.  This tank is connected to a hose, so do not pull very hard.  In this tank, there is a silver grate and a white felt moistener pad.  Remove the grate and pad.  Replace the pad with the side that was facing down now facing up.  Replace the grate and insert the moistener tank into its original position.  Replace the brush assembly plate also.

Test

You can now run some test envelopes through the mail machine.

If you still have a poor seal quality or no seal at all, you will need to place a service request.  You can do this at www.pb.com.  You would login with your username and password (or select register now if you do not have one) and then click on View Your Products and Request On-Site Service.  Otherwise, you can call our service department at 1-800-522-0020.

Thank you,

Jeremy
