DM100i won't print at all.

[ Edited ]

Not sure how to post a new topic so I'm hoping this gets to the correct person. I just replaced the ink Cartridge on our DM100i and it won't print at all, I mean the cartridge is discharging ink, but it's not ending up on the envelope. Purged the heads, took the print head out and cleaned it up. Ran the update on the machine but it won't print. I was printing just fine before I changed out the cartridge. Any clue an what to do to correct this issue.

Re: DM100i won't print at all.

Mark,

I found this info on the PB website:

"The DM100i may be in seal-only mode, which disables printing.  Press Home to return to the Home screen and resume printing."

I hope this helps solve your problem!

Re: DM100i won't print at all.

Triton,

Thank you for your post.  When you are experiencing a poor print quality or no print at all on the DM100i / DM200L mail machine, if you are using a Pitney Bowes brand Ink Cartridge, you can follow the directions below.  If you are not using a Pitney Bowes brand Ink Cartridge, we will need to ask you to obtain a Pitney Bowes Ink Cartridge.

  • Remove the Ink Cartridge from the machine and place it on it’s side on a paper towel
  • Make sure that the silver pull-off tab has been removed from the Ink Cartridge
  • Place the Ink Cartridge on your scale

If the Ink Cartridge weighs 1.4 oz. it is empty (a full Ink Cartridge will weigh 2.4 oz.).  If your Ink Cartridge is 1.4 oz, you will need a new Ink Cartridge.

  1. Look inside where the Ink Cartridge was seated.   Please let me know if any of the pins are bent or broken.
  2. Remove the print head and wipe off excess ink from the bottom of the print head, using a dry or slightly damp paper towel
  3. Reinstall the print head
  4. Pull the Ink Carriage (the unit that holds the Ink Cartridge and Print Head) all the way to the front of the machine.
  5. Located behind the Ink Carriage is the capping station (it resembles a tissue box).  Dab the capping station 4 times with a swab.  If you don’t have a swab, you can bypass this step.
  6. Reseat the Ink Cartridge in the Ink Carriage and close the cover.
  7. After the Ink Carriage is realigned, open the cover.
  8. Located in front of the Ink Carriage (the unit that holds the Ink Cartridge and Print Head) is a wiper blade.  It is a black strip with red ink on it.  Wipe off excess ink from the Wiper Blade using a dry or slightly damp paper towel
  9. Close the cover and the Ink Carriage will realign again

Print a $0.00 stamp.  If the print quality is good, you can process your mail.  If the print is still poor, please follow these directions:

  1. Press Options
  2. Press the down arrow key twice
  3. Select Advanced Features
  4. Select Maintenance Mode
  5. Select Printer Maintenance
  6. Select Purges
  7. Select Purge A
  8. After Purge A is completed, press the Clear key until you return to the main display
  9. Print a $0.00 stamp.

If the print quality is still poor, repeat steps 1-7 one more time.  If the print is still poor, it will then be best to place a service request.

How to Place a Service Request Online

Thank you,

Jeremy

Re: DM100i won't print at all.

I had the same problem with a replacement cartridge - I primed the ink tank and left it in the machine over the weekend.

By Monday morning it was printing normally after a few envelopes.  Hope this helps,

Thank you mle505!!
I had the same issue when changing from an outdated machine to a newer machine.
I waited from Saturday morning til Monday morning, did a "Purge" and then a Test Print and IT PRINTED!!
Phew!!
