Yesterday and today we have had an issue with our DM1000 that the tech people we usually deal with insist is impossible.
We were entering postage amounts manually when we got an error '0503' yesterday, the error occured after entering an amount and and pushing the tape print button, no tape printed, the staffer reset the machine and punched in the postage amount again and got a tape. She didn't think anything about it until she was closing for the day and discovered our postage was off by the amount that had been entered when the error occured. In essence we printed postage for four packages and the machine says we printed five.
It happened twice more today. I witnessed it happen on the second time. After the error this time we checked and saw there was no tape printed, we noted the error code '0503', reset the machine and then checked the postage balance and batch count - we saw that the machine had counted the piece that generated the error and had deducted the postage amount from our balance, but as noted already it printed no tape.
If anyone has experienced similar occurences we'd be happy to hear if there are any solutions. Right now we are baffled and the tech folks don't believe us. We just happened to have a tech in town today and he came to look a the machine, but he could not get the error to repeat, of course. We also seem to be out the amount of postage that did not actually get imprinted, we're a small operation and cannot afford for this to happen again.
Thanks in advance for any input,
Scott

Hi QuickMail,
Thank you for your detailed post, and sorry to hear you are experiencing this error.
When you have error 0503 on your meter, a service representative will need to be dispatched to your location to fix this. You will want to have the service representative dispatched, otherwise this error will continue to occur.
How to Place a Service Request Online
Thank you,
Jeremy
