DM1000 Parcel Post procedure

The Year of Value software upgrade to my DM1000 has created extra steps for me to take in processing Parcel Post.  Before the download, once I had selected the Parcel Post Custom Preset and selected the account, I simply placed the parcel on the scale, entered the Zip Code at the prompt, pressed Enter and pressed Tape.  If I had multiple parcels, I could select the Differential Weighing mode, set a stack of parcels on the scale, take the top parcel off, enter the Zip Code at the prompt and press Enter.  Now after selecting the Parcel Post Custom Presort and selecting the account, I have to set the parcel on the scale, press the down arrow on the meter (no prompt for Zip Code), press the Zip Code button, press the clear button (to clear the current Zip Code), enter the new Zip code, press Enter and press Tape.  When I have three hundred parcels in a single mailing like I do today, those extra steps really slow down the process.  In a Mail Center with one employee and one mail machine, all of that lost time can be critical.  I would really appreciate it if you would program the meter software to operate in the simpler more efficient way it did before the Year of Value upgrade.

Re: DM1000 Parcel Post procedure

Hi Charles,

I have a feeling that when you downloaded the Year of Value upgrades, the zip code prompt may have been changed in your meter.  Sorry about that.  Let's try this:

  • Press the Menu key
  • Select Set up
  • Select Scale/Rates

For "Class if new piece", I would set this to Retain, so that when you go from piece to piece when using the scale, it won't prompt you for the class each time.  For "Dest. if new piece", I would set this to Prompt, so that the machine will automatically ask you for the zip code, instead of retaining the previous zip code.  For "Dest is new class", I would set this to Prompt, so that the machine will automatically ask you for the zip code if the class changes.

Can you let me know if this works?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Re: DM1000 Parcel Post procedure

Jeremy,

That solved the problem.  One thing I did that you hadn't suggested was to change "Autoclear Dest. Value" from "no" to "yes" so I won't have to manually clear the old zip code every time.  It seems to be working the way it did before the upgrade, now.  That will save me a lot of time and effort.

Thank you very much.

Charles
