Certified Mail

I have to mail letters to various addresses but it has to be certified mail.  Does the machine our office currently has have the capabilities for that?  Is there some product the PB provides to help make this an easier and fast process?

Re: Certified Mail

You should tell us what machine you have. If it's a DM series machine then probably yes.

Re: Certified Mail

We have a DM 825 and I would like to know the same information.  Can I  mail an envelope certified with return receipt?  Do I need the green card from the post office or will all the information print on a tape?  We do not have the Electronic Confirmation Services on our machine.

Re: Certified Mail

OK, so it's like this...

Your meter can calculate the correct postage for certified and certified with return receipt and you will need to fill out and apply PS form 3800 (the bar code label) and, if needed, PS form 3811 (the green card).

Electronic Comfirmation and Electronic Return Receipt are options that are available to you from PB for an additional fee. You have to decide whether the conveneince is worth the fee. If you do a lot of Certified the answer is often yes. With the electronic option you do not need to fill out PS3800 or PS3811. However, if you are used to the regular forms you will need to modify your record keeping habits. There is no tag that gets stamped by the Postal Service, but you can print a manifest and get that stamped. The manifest does not have the recipient address, so you may need to keep a separate record that associates the article number with the recipient.

Re: Certified Mail

Thank you for the information.  We only do certified mail once every blue moon so  I think I will stick with the old fashioned method.

I appreciate your comments!
