Flat Deflection Standard

I need something in writing to give me the regulation and samples for flats. Where would I be able to find something that non-mailing industry people would understand. I need to show it to our Purchasing Department.

brett02,

I'm not exactly sure if this is what you are looking for, but at usps.com, I found this link:

Thank you,

Re: Flat Deflection Standard

There's a really great brochure that the USPS publishes called "A Customer's Guide to Preparing Mail".  In it you will find the minimum and maximum dimensions for items to be considered letters, flats or non-machinable items that will require the surcharge.  It's very clear and concise and includes charts and graphics to illustrate the differences.

Re: Flat Deflection Standard

Thanks for the welcome.  :smileyhappy:

I retired in December from the Postal Service after 25 years as a Window Clerk and Financial Accountability Clerk.  We had to be a walking Postal Wikipedia on mailing requirements.  LOL!!

Any help I can give on Postal regulations, just ask.
