We are a mail house. We use our mailer number in the IMB. If the customer requests Return Service and we encode it in the IMB and their address, different than ours, is on the envelope. Will they get the returns or will we?

Hello Alan!
Thanks so much for participating in our Forum!
I may need a bit of clarification from you to better answer your question. You see, for First-Class Mail®, OneCode ACS® with the Intelligent Mail® barcode is available for the letters and flats using the “Address Service Requested” and “Change Service Requested” ancillary service endorsements, not “Return Service Requested”.So essentially, if your customer requests that all UAA mailpieces are returned to them, OneCode ACS™ would not be the appropriate solution.
If your question pertains to whom (you or your customer) would receive the address change notification information when participating in the OneCode ACS® program, the USPS explains the following… The Intelligent Mail® barcode contains a mailer identifier (in your question, you state that it would be your Mailer ID). The Mailer Identifier is equivalent to the Traditional ACS™ participant code and corresponds to a specific “mailer” (in your case, you) which the USPS® than uses to consolidate and return OneCode ACS transactions.
Please let me know if this helps and/or if you have additional questions!
Kind regards,
Elizabeth
