Certified Mail

I am switching from first class mail to presort. I like to know if I can do presort on certified mail.

Thanks

Re: Certified Mail

Hello Breeze!

If you are switching from full-rate (single-piece) First-Class Mail to presorted First-Class Mail, then yes, you can still use Certified Mail.  In fact, that "extra service" is on page 5 of the Postal Statement 3600r.

Sometimes though, people say "presorted" when they really mean they are switching from First-Class Mail to Standard Mail.  If that is the case, then no, you cannot use Certified Mail.  Certified Mail is only available for First-Class Mail and Priority Mail.

Please let me know if you need additional information!

Re: Certified Mail

Good morning Breeze!

I want to add on a piece of information relative to your question.  According to the Business Mail Entry manager that I frequently work with, you

must use this extra service (Certified Mail) on every piece in your discount First-Class Mail mailing using a Firm Mailing book.  Or, you could present the Certified Mail pieces  separately and then resort them into your mailing.

Re: Certified Mail

Just to clarify things for me, what are the fees for the following:  certified fee, return receipt fee, and restricted delivery fee

Thank you!

Re: Certified Mail

Hello again!

The fee for Certified Mail is $2.70, the fee for the traditional "green card" Return Receipt is $2.20 and the electronic Return Receipt is $1.00.  Restricted Delivery is $4.30.

You also need to add the correct amount of postage.
