2009 USPS Postage Rate Change

Have been unable to change to the new rate.  Followed the instructions that were given but the connection always gets dropped when trying to connect.  What do I do?  The model I have is DDL8.

Thank you for your posts, and sorry to hear about these problems.  Let's try this:

Check the phone settings in the meter 

• Press the Options button
• Select Setup Menu
• Select Basic Settings
• Select Refill Setup
• Select PB Account Number (this should be your 8 digit Postage by Phone Account Number)
• Press clear until you return to the main display

 

• Press the Options button
• Select Setup Menu
• Select Basic Settings
• Press the Options button once to scroll down one page
• Select Phone Setup
  1. Tone/Pulse should be set to Tone
  2. Dialing Prefix will need a prefix, such as 9, if you need to press 9 to get an outside line
  3. PB Phone Number should be 18662978025.  You can also try using our backup number which is 18005904857
  4. Modem Type.  First try Internal Model.  If this doesnt’t work, try USB Modem.  If this doesnt’t work, try Serial Modem.

 

If you are still unable to make a connection, then it is best to try a different analog phone line to make the connection (usually a fax machine line will work).  If you have the same exact problem when using a different phone line, then the problem may be with the meter.  At this point, it would be best to place a service request.  However, if you are able to make a connection or have a different problem when using a different phone line,  this point more towards the problem being with your phone line.  At this point, it would be best to check with your IT person or your phone company.
