DM400c loses connection-cannot download

I have tried a myriad of times to download the rate changes. It always loses the connection after about 20-30 seconds. I tried the online chat and the first gal told me she reset the update and try again in 1/2 hr. Did so and same problem. Got on the chat again, this gal gave me the 800 number. Called that and all the hard to understand gentleman could do was tell me over and over, wait a minute, as he flipped through screens and papers, eventually told me the steps to do the update which I told him repeatedly I'd already done. Then he told me he needed to transfer me to technical support (wasn't that where I was?) and the next thing I knew, he had me right back to the original voice menu that got me to HIM in the first place. After waiting a bit, the voice came on and said "sorry, we cannot connect you, please call the 800 number again) I have wasted 1/2 a day on this and still no help!

Hi BkkprPam,

I'm very sorry to hear about this problem you have had with phone service, I can help you.  It appears you are having a connectivity problem, since you are always loosing the connection after 20-30 seconds.  Let's try this:

Re: DM400c loses connection-cannot download

[ Edited ]

We can connect to check balance and add postage. The other thread was not helpful. I am at my wits end and can't get any work done because no one else around here is capable of changing the postage for each piece they send.

Does DE1D help at all? Or is that just another code for lost connection?

I did try again this morning and it took over a minute to drop this time.

I unplugged the ethernet and tried the analog but that did the same thing.

Very frustrated

I also noticed elsewhere you said something about not having DSL line on your connection. Uh, what does this mean if your service IS DSL????

Sorry, but I am so frustrated.

Re: DM400c loses connection-cannot download

BkkprPam,

Thank you for your reply.

Error DE1D actually signifies a "numerical error" with the meter.  To correct this, you will want to power down the meter for 3 minutes and then power it back up.

What we suggest as far as DSL is to make sure you do not have any DSL Filters on your phone line.  A DSL Filter is usually a rectangular plastic box about the size of your finger that has a male phone jack at one end that plugs into the wall phone jack outlet and a female phone jack at the other end that get the phone line plugged into.

If you are still unable to download the update after following these directions, then I would need to suggest that a service call be placed.

How to Place a Service Request Online

Thank you,

Jeremy

Re: DM400c loses connection-cannot download

Well powering down and even unplugging for 3 minutes didn't help. After wasting 6-8 hrs on this, we are calling in for service. Hope they send someone who knows what they are doing, we haven't always been real impressed with the service people. :smileysad:

Re: DM400c loses connection-cannot download

After an hour, tech finally got ratechanges to download. NO go with the internet connection; had to connect to phone line at the very first box where it comes into building. Then it still took more than 1 try to get it to complete.

We put the postage maching OUTSIDE the firewall and even that didn't help for the internet connection.
