Hi BkkprPam,
I'm very sorry to hear about this problem you have had with phone service, I can help you. It appears you are having a connectivity problem, since you are always loosing the connection after 20-30 seconds. Let's try this:

We can connect to check balance and add postage. The other thread was not helpful. I am at my wits end and can't get any work done because no one else around here is capable of changing the postage for each piece they send.
Does DE1D help at all? Or is that just another code for lost connection?
I did try again this morning and it took over a minute to drop this time.
I unplugged the ethernet and tried the analog but that did the same thing.
Very frustrated

I also noticed elsewhere you said something about not having DSL line on your connection. Uh, what does this mean if your service IS DSL????
Sorry, but I am so frustrated.

BkkprPam,
Thank you for your reply.
Error DE1D actually signifies a "numerical error" with the meter. To correct this, you will want to power down the meter for 3 minutes and then power it back up.
What we suggest as far as DSL is to make sure you do not have any DSL Filters on your phone line. A DSL Filter is usually a rectangular plastic box about the size of your finger that has a male phone jack at one end that plugs into the wall phone jack outlet and a female phone jack at the other end that get the phone line plugged into.
If you are still unable to download the update after following these directions, then I would need to suggest that a service call be placed.
How to Place a Service Request Online
Thank you,
Jeremy

After an hour, tech finally got ratechanges to download. NO go with the internet connection; had to connect to phone line at the very first box where it comes into building. Then it still took more than 1 try to get it to complete.
We put the postage maching OUTSIDE the firewall and even that didn't help for the internet connection.
He agrees that the problem is with the servers at Pitney Bowes.
